They’ll
tell you the Upcountry is growing so fast, there’s no more land to be
found. They’ll tell you it’s not like it used to be. (Well,
what is?) We’ve got an international jetport and headquarters
facilities for multi-national companies. There’s an almost
inexhaustible supply of potable water, and you don’t have to worry
about floods, hurricanes, forest fires or mudslides. We’re halfway
between Charlotte and Atlanta, which is just close enough, thank you
very much. We kept part of the Old South (the best part) and
tossed out what didn’t work anymore. And if somebody tells you
they can’t find you the right home and land, then you ought to be
talking to Martha. Now there’s a somebody who knows her way
around what we think is one of the most agreeable places on God’s green
earth.
